Every crash game you'll find online falls into one of two settlement models, and the difference matters more than most casino marketing explains.

Centralized Provably Fair games

Most crash games — Aviator, JetX, Spaceman, and the majority of the genre — run on the casino's own servers. Fairness is guaranteed through a Provably Fair system: before a round starts, the server commits to a hashed "server seed" you can't see, combines it with a client seed you can influence, and after the round reveals the original seed so you can independently recompute the SHA-256 hash and confirm the result wasn't altered after the fact.

This model is fast, cheap to run (no gas fees on the game logic itself), and — when implemented correctly and verified — genuinely tamper-resistant. The catch is trust in implementation: you're verifying that a specific round's hash matches, but you're trusting the casino's server code overall wasn't built to cheat before that point.

On-chain smart-contract games

A smaller but growing set of crash games run the entire round logic as a smart contract on a blockchain like Ethereum, Solana, or Arbitrum. The randomness source, the crash-point calculation, and the payout are all executed and recorded on-chain, meaning anyone can audit the contract code directly on a block explorer rather than trusting a company's server.

The tradeoff is cost and speed: on-chain games inherit whatever gas fee and confirmation time their host chain has, which is why on-chain crash games have concentrated on low-fee chains like Solana and Arbitrum rather than Ethereum mainnet.

Which should you choose?

Neither model is strictly "safer" — a well-implemented Provably Fair centralized game and a well-audited smart contract can both be legitimately fair, and a badly-run version of either can't. What matters practically: check whether a Provably Fair implementation actually lets you verify a real round (not just claims to), and for on-chain games, check whether the contract has a published audit from a named firm rather than just an unverified claim of one.
